ITI Newsletter April 2011

Good morning and welcome to the April 2011 edition of the Independent Tertiary Institutions (ITI) newsletter. ITI is a recognised peak body which provides a collective voice for a range of diverse, high-quality private tertiary providers who are all committed to quality and student achievement. Each month, we look to share stories which highlight the achievements of learners and staff at our member institutions.

A film by the Media Design School, Das Tub, has won the best short film category at one of the top fifty film festivals in the world. Not only is this a huge achievement in its own right, Das Tub is now eligible for the Oscars! A student from Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design has scooped the young bridal designer awards. This news is particularly topical given the events which will unfold later tonight.

There is short profile of the new General Manager for the Welding School which outlines her background and views on ITI. Learners from New Zealand Management Academies (NZMA) raced their way to an amazing $1,500 donation for earthquake relief in Canterbury.

Finally, colourful JUCY rental cars are an increasingly common sight on the roads of Australia and New Zealand. The International Travel College (ITC) has teamed up with this fast-growing company to place their students in part-time work while they are studying.

After a turbulent political week, all eyes now shift to the Budget on 19 May. ITI will present our analysis in the next newsletter.
