Graduates Thank the Community

Every year, Tauranga-based Bethlehem Tertiary Institute celebrates students success at the Graduation Ceremony. Graduates converge on Bethlehem, after having taken up their first teaching or counselling positions around the country or overseas.

Marketing Manager for the Institute, Mrs Luisa Schroder says We wanted to find a way to thank the wider community who have hosted many of our students during their years of study - in their homes, businesses, churches, schools. Our student life could not prosper without the willingness of the Tauranga community to have homestays, to give part-time jobs to our students, and employ our graduates in schools and community/welfare agencies

The local Tauranga Hospital was approached and was given $800 worth of childrens books. We had a lot of fun choosing educational and recreational books knowing that sick children and their families will benefit, says Graduate Erin Cornwall, who is now teaching Year 7s at a school in Moree, Australia. The books were so well received and are definitely a necessary resource for the hospital.

Bethlehem Tertiary Institute in Tauranga has been training teachers and counsellors for 15 years. Hundreds of graduates now work in state, independent, integrated and Christian schools, early childhood centres and community agencies around New Zealand and overseas.
