Growing Great Hearts and Minds For Over 20 Years

Cast your mind back 20 years and you may remember Bill Clinton becoming the 42nd President of the USA, Winston Peters launching the New Zealand First party or even Buckingham Palace opening its doors to the public for the first time. However, in the small town of Bethlehem, Tauranga, the exciting news of the day was that a new tertiary provider had been born!

20 years on at BTI and the initial cohort of just 13 teacher education students has grown to over 450 students from all around New Zealand, studying ECE, primary and secondary teaching, social work and counselling.

To recognise this key milestone, BTI invited well known TV journalist, Rob Harley, to share some inspirational thoughts with alumni, staff, students and VIPs, including the Hon Larry Baldock and the Mayor of Tauranga, Stuart Crosby, at a celebratory dinner held at Mills Reef. The Hon Simon Bridges, MP for Tauranga, was unable to attend but sent his congratulations and message of support via video in which he praised BTI for their 'nurturing environment of excellence'.
